From Lamenting to Worship

A song of testimony. A sound of transition. From lamenting to worship.
“So David departed from there and escaped to the cave of Adullam. And when his brothers and all his father's house heard it, they went down there to him. And everyone who was in distress, and everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented, gathered to him. And he became their leader. About four hundred men were with him.” 1 Samuel 22:1-2
The dream
I was walking toward a high mountain that the sound of music compelled me to. I saw what appeared to be a cave positioned at the top of the mountain where the music was coming from.
As I got closer to the mountain, I saw myself seated inside the cave on a rock in a hooded garment singing, worshipping and beating a drum with my hands.
As I focused, I saw a massive figure standing next to me holding the hem of HIS white garment in HIS huge hand above my head like an awning of protection.
The lyrics
VERSE 1
I ran from the noise, I ran from the pain
Carrying a heart that felt buried in rain
The world had its crown, but it crushed my soul
So I wandered alone, tryin' to lose control
But mercy found me in the darkest place
A cave became my hiding place
No throne, no spotlight, just tears on the ground
Until I heard that sound…
PRE-CHORUS
You didn't leave me in my shame
You whispered my name
You held me close
When I had nothing left to say
CHORUS
You're the King of the Cave
The light in the darkest place
You turned my mourning into dancing
You turned my sorrow into praise
You're the King of the Cave
You met me in my lament
Now I lift my hands and beat this drum
From lamenting to worship again
VERSE 2
They came with their burdens, broken and beat
We were the outcasts, the ones at His feet
But He made us a family, He gave us a name
In the cave where we cried, He
Ignited a flame
PRE-CHORUS
You didn't leave me in my shame
You whispered my name
You held me close
When I had nothing left to say
CHORUS
You're the King of the Cave
The light in the darkest place
You turned my mourning into dancing
You turned my sorrow into praise
You're the King of the Cave
You met me in my lament
Now I lift my hands and beat this drum
From lamenting to worship again
BRIDGE (Spoken or Sung)
You didn't need a palace
You didn't need a throne
You just needed a heart
That was willing to be known
You took my mess and made it a message
You turned my test into a testimony
Now I'm not who I was
I'm who You made me to be…
FINAL CHORUS
You're the King of the Cave
My hiding place, my saving grace
You turned my mourning into dancing
You turned my sorrow into praise
You're the King of the Cave
Forever You'll be
I beat this drum, I lift this song
From lamenting to worship
Where I belong
OUTRO (Spoken or Softly Sung)
I came to the cave running…
I leave as a worshipper…
